The “Regulation on Prohibitions and Restrictions on the Putting into Circulation and Handing over of Particular Substances, Mixtures and Products under the German Chemicals Act, namely the "ChemVerbotsV".
Regulates the prohibitions and restrictions in connection with the putting into circulation and handing over of particular hazardous substances and mixtures as well as products which can release or contain these substances and mixtures. These substances are to be found in Annex 1 of the ChemVerbotsV. To be found in this list are substances and substance groups such as formaldehyde, dioxins and furans, pentachlorophenol or bio-dispersing fibres. In addition, there is a comprehensive list of some 60 chemicals which are prohibited in the EU or, as the case may be, may be used in the EU only in a restricted manner (Annex XVII of Regulation (EC) No. 1907/2006 (REACH)).
Treated materials of wood may not release more than 0.1 ppm of formaldehyde into the air.
Washing and cleaning agents may not contain more than a maximum of 0.2 % formaldehyde (exception: industrial use).
